We do a complete reboot just in time to help guide readers through the biggest boom the luxury home entertainment market has ever seen
by John Sciacca
December 6, 2021
We don’t usually break the third wall here at Cineluxe, but you’ve likely noticed some big changes to the way the site looks, and I thought I’d offer a bit of explanation as well as describe some new things we’ve been working on that we’re excited to share.
My name is John Sciacca, and I’ve been involved with Cineluxe since Day One. If you’ve spent any time here, you’ve likely read some of my posts and movie reviews, and, as my bio says, for the past two decades I’ve been co-owner of an integration firm in South Carolina, and write for publications like Residential Systems and Sound & Vision. On November 1, I took over ownership of Cineluxe and will be acting as publisher going forward. Industry veteran Michael Gaughn will continue as the site’s editor-in-chief, and we both look forward to exploring new ways to cover the luxury category.
We’ve had a vision for what Cineluxe could become, and can now realize that vision. Our focus will remain solely on presenting the world of luxury home entertainment, and while we’ll continue covering premium dedicated theaters and media rooms with an eye towards the lifestyle and experience benefits, we’ll also focus on other areas of the home where we know entertainment is expanding.
We know in a modern, luxury smart home, things like automation, control, lighting, shading, and music and video distribution are equally important to the entertainment discussion. We’ll also shine a light on new trends that are emerging in the luxury sector that we feel will be a driving force for the future of entertainment, like video walls, digital canvases, high-end gaming rigs, and simulators.
We understand our readers don’t care as much about tech, specs, and gear as an AV enthusiast would, but rather want a premium system that works, and works well, and we want to help them to locate the best team of designers, integrators, and technicians to realize their vision. To this end, we’ll be embedding dealer locators for certain premium brands and partners.
We’ve spent a lot of time on the site’s new look and layout, with the goal of presenting content in an engaging and elegant manner that feels like browsing the pages of a luxury coffee-table book. We’ll be embracing idea book layouts to help inspire and excite about the possibilities available.
We’re continuing our coverage highlighting the best movies, series, and musicyou should be aware of to get the most out of your home-entertainment space, and we’ll be adding some new voices to our team of reviewers to help expand coverage.
Our redesign will include some new departments, such as:
• A section that highlights some of the premium brands in the luxury entertainment space you should be aware of and familiar with.
• A news section that will feature frequent, brief updates pertaining to luxury home entertainment, such as content releases, product releases, and other trends.
• Stories and videos highlighting designers, integrators, and luxury installations to inspire and highlight what is possible.
• A monthly newsletter that will provide the easiest way to stay up to date with the latest Cineluxe coverage, where we’ll deliver our top stories, news, and reviews to your inbox.
We’re excited to have you as a reader, and hope you love our new look and coverage! If you have any story ideas, or any thoughts on anything related to editorial, email mike@cineluxe.com. For anything related to the business side of things, or any general comments, I welcome any feedback at john@cineluxe.com.

A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR IN CHIEF
This is a brief, but very sincere, thank you to both Theo Kalomirakis and Cheena Srinivasan. Without their continued support—especially during some occasional dark days—and their understanding of and faith in what this site could be, we would never have been in a position to finally bring Cineluxe to fruition.
And I would be remiss not to give a similarly big thank you to our Third Amigo, Dennis Burger, who has not only been an indispensable contributor to the site but one of its guiding voices and a long-suffering sounding board for all things Cineluxe. —Michael Gaughn
